Senior Fullstack Engineer



Overview of the role:


This role is key to the successful delivery and evolution of our innovative products and services. As a rapidly growing business we want someone who can help us drive our technical function, working with the whole team on modern and innovative Market Research Solutions.

Reporting into the Principal Engineer, you will work within our growing development team. You will be a people person with the ability to communicate at all levels of a business, both internally and externally. Key responsibilities include the creation of high quality, secure and performant code. Architecture of new developments and helping to instil best practice across the team.

Experience of Ruby and Ruby on Rails are key and a strong working knowledge of modern JavaScript development such as Node, React, Angular, Vue or another alternative would really make you stand out.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a fast-paced development role where agility and team work are key to the creation of innovative, high quality products.

As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to take a key role in the refinement of development tasks, and you must be willing to challenge requirements and take ownership of your commitments. A pragmatic approach to development is a must, as well as the ability to work closely with the product teams to deliver the best outcome for the customer.


Your focus and responsibilities:


The Senior Engineer is key to the successful delivery of products and services within Researchbods. As well as having technical expertise in many disciplines, you will work in the following areas:


  • Refinement and presentation of planned architecture as well as offering advice and leadership on new architecture to follow when tasking out user stories.
  • Drive the evolution of our architecture and take ownership of the design and development of core features.
  • Raise the bar for best practices and help us build a world-class team with a brilliant engineering culture.
  • Take collective ownership for the platform as a whole, responding to its needs for security, stability and availability.

Your skills and attributes:


Essential:


  • Expert Knowledge in full stack Ruby on Rails, preferably from version 3.2 and above.
  • Expert knowledge in MySQL.
  • Experience developing code for highly available business critical software hosted in public cloud.
  • Demonstrable experience of agile working practices, Continuous Integration, GIT Flow, BDD/TDD and modern development patterns and practices.
  • Competent in Front End Develop including HTML, CSS, JavaScript & JQuery, Bootstrap, SASS.

Desirable:


  • Knowledge using JavaScript development libraries such as Node, React, Angular, Vue or another alternative.
  • Experience developing micro services architecture applications and scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices.
